Holos Asset Management is a fee-only, independent registered investment advisory firm started by Seth Hanau in 2006. With almost 20 years of experience, Seth is certainly no stranger to the financial markets. Born and raised in New York City, Seth became a runner on the floor of the New York Commodities Exchange at 16. While at Indiana University, Seth interned with Merrill Lynch and upon graduation he joined the firm as a trading assistant. From there Seth was recruited by First New York Securities where he was made a partner after only two years. Having built an impressive reputation by this point, Seth was hired by Steven A. Cohen to help start Sigma Capital Management, LLC as a portfolio manager of the hedge fund.

As was the case with many who lived and worked in New York City during the tragedy of September 11th, Seth took some time to re-evaluate his priorities and goals. After much thought he decided to move to Chicago to trade his own account. The investment philosophies that he had employed throughout his career had all promised substantial gains that could only be secured through substantial risk. Although the outcome was usually successful, the road traveled to reach the end goal was paved with immense stress and sleepless nights. Utilizing this knowledge as the beacon for what NOT to do, Seth knew he needed to implement a strategy that mitigated risk while providing more consistent and predictable returns. This led to the discovery of a unique asset allocation model that warranted further investigation. After running his own money and verifying the risk/reward component of the model, he determined that this type of investment philosophy would be welcomed by many investors and decided to open Holos Asset Management.
